Huts

    Washington gave his men general specifications for the huts and offered a cash reward for the builders of the first quality hut.  Nevertheless, the huts weren't all completed until well into January.  With the exception of Wayne's Pennsylvania troops, each hut was unique, and they often reflected regional building techniques.  There has been considerable controversy concerning hut reconstructions at Valley Forge.  The huts of Washington's Guards seem to be built with telephone poles.  The newer reconstructions of Muhlenberg's brigade are more accurate but are still uniform.
