M-7 Medium Tank
M-7 Medium Tank at Aberdeen
Grown out of an effort to improve or replace the Stuart light tank with a tank mounting a 75mm gun, the design became heavy enough to be considered a medium tank. Since it was ready for production only after the Sherman, and since it was considered inferior to it, only seven M-7 were ever built. It mounted the same 75 mm gun as the Sherman, and the upper part of the vehicle bears a resemblance to the M-4, but the running gear is Stuart-like.
