XM-800

XM-800 at Ft. Knox

The XM-800 was an attempt to develop an armored reconnaissance scout vehicle in the early '70s.  The XM-800 proved a failure, and the Army eventually adopted the M-3 Bradley, which along with M-1s, would equip armored cavalry units.  This not only saved money, it also had the potential to fool the enemy into thinking they were facing the main force.
