The James River From Fort Brady

This is the view of the James River at Fort Brady.  The fort was designed to dominate the river and keep Confederate ships bottled up in Richmond.

Main Battery of Fort Brady

This is the position of the main artillery battery, which was closest to the James River.  A photograph was taken during the war at almost the exact position as this one.

Fort Brady

The main battery visible in the last picture is off to the left.  This photo shows depressions in the walls for the artillery as well as a ramp on the far right for moving the guns.
